O incêndio iniciado a 14 de agosto no concelho da Ribeira Brava encontra-se praticamente consolidado, com a existência de alguns pontos quentes, na Cordilheira Central (Pico Ruivo) e na Ponta do Sol (Lombada).
No dia 23 de agosto no teatro de operações tivemos: helicóptero (H-35), dois aviões Canadair, mais de uma dezena de veículos e mais de 110 operacionais, composta pelos Corpos de bombeiros da Região Autónoma da Madeira, a Força Operacional Conjunta (FOCON), bombeiros voluntarios dos Açores, elementos da Guarda Nacional Republicana, Instituto de Florestas e Conservação da Natureza e Polícia de Segurança Pública, devidamente coordenados pelos elementos afetos ao Serviço Regional de Proteção Civil.
Os aviões Canadair efetuaram 18 descargas nos focos ativos no Pico Ruivo e Ponta do Sol (Lombada), totalizando 26 descargas desde o início da sua chegada.
Por sua vez, o helicóptero (H-35) realizou, um total de 327 descargas desde o dia 14 de agosto, para apoiar os operacionais no combate direto ao fogo e só no dia de hoje este meio aéreo fez 57 descargas.
Importa realçar que a atividade do meio aéreo foi no dia de hoje complementada no terreno por mais 110 bombeiros que em condições difíceis realizaram um excelente trabalho de combate ao incêndio.
O trabalho contínuo e de forma interrupta é fundamental para conter o avanço das chamas.
São homens de coragem que enfrentam diariamente a força do fogo com o objetivo principal de proteger a população, seus bens e o nosso património.
No dia de hoje é importante destacar o papel dos voluntários da Delegação da Madeira da Cruz Vermelha Portuguesa que têm auxiliado todo o socorro na Região na valência de emergência pré-hospitalar, libertando os bombeiros para combater o fogo.
O SRPC, IP-RAM continua a monitorizar a situação e coordena os esforços para maximizar a eficácia do combate, garantindo a segurança das populações e das equipas no terreno.

Fire Situation Update (23/08/2024 - 21:00 PM)
The fire that began on August 14th in the Ribeira Brava municipality is now nearly contained, with a few hot spots remaining in the Central Mountain Range (Pico Ruivo) and in Ponta do Sol (Lombada).
On August 23rd, the following resources were deployed in the field: a helicopter (H-35), two Canadair planes, over a dozen vehicles, and more than 110 personnel, including the fire departments of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, the Joint Operational Force (FOCON), volunteer firefighters from the Azores, members of the National Republican Guard, the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation, and the Public Security Police, all coordinated by the Regional Civil Protection Service.
The Canadair planes carried out 18 water drops on active hotspots in Pico Ruivo and Ponta do Sol (Lombada), bringing the total to 26 drops since their arrival.
The helicopter (H-35) has conducted a total of 327 water drops since August 14th, directly supporting the firefighting efforts, with 57 drops made just today.
It's important to highlight that today's aerial activity was complemented on the ground by over 110 firefighters who, despite challenging conditions, did an excellent job combating the fire.
Continuous, uninterrupted work is essential to contain the spread of the flames.
These are brave men who face the force of the fire daily, with the primary goal of protecting the population, their property, and our heritage.
Today, it's important to recognize the role of the volunteers from the Madeira branch of the Portuguese Red Cross, who have been assisting with all emergency relief in the region, particularly in pre-hospital emergency care, freeing up firefighters to focus on battling the fire.
The SRPC, IP-RAM continues to monitor the situation and coordinates efforts to maximize the effectiveness of the firefighting operations, ensuring the safety of both the population and the teams on the ground.
